This meeting has a special ARC blessing and a range to ourselves - a "sanctioned" event. We'll have a diverse group of folks, so if you have an item which needs to be indentified or you think it's just plain neat and you gotta show it off, bring it (them) along. We'll have the 100/200 yd range to ourselves (32 stations with concrete benches). Even though this is a sanctioned event, the ARC still has rules which apply to members/guest. These rules can be found here. But, even though the range has a few restrictions on the type of firearms to be used at the range, that doesn't mean you cannot bring your Lahiti 20mm even though you're not going to fire it. So bring your toys (for shooting or showing), a folding chair for sitting off the line, cooler with some extra water or other beverages (non-alcoholic please if you're shooting), snacks , camera and those treasures you just have to show off. Friends and family are encouraged to attend. Pictorial directions here (Austin to Manor) and here (Manor to range). For more details drop a line to Steven. |

Shooting MatchSince this is an official match in the eyes of the Club and a $5 match fee will be collected from all who wish to participate. No charge for watching, talking and hanging out. We have two classifications for the match:
The match will be shot at 100 yds for the open sights classification and 200 yds for the improved sights classification. Match duration will be10 minutes for 10 shots. We will be using reduced Highpower targets at both 100 and 200yd ranges (300yd Slowfire reduced to 200yd size), scoring will be done by the numbers - not group size. Tied scores will be broken by number of X's (a score of 90 w/ 6 X's beats a 90 w/ 5X's). Sandbags, rests are encouraged. However, no clamp-type rests (like Ransom) please. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of both classifications. Whether your rifle shoots minute-of-barn or minute-of-dime,come out and have some fun. |

ErattaPlease note that the shooting match is for centerfire ammo only - range rules prohibit .22 rimfire ammo on the C Range where the match will take place. In case of incliment weather, I will change the match status at the top of the page - the range is prone to flooding if there's significant rainfall in the area. Water rescues have occurred at the range. The Safety Officer for the gathering will be in charge of the line during the match and plinking sessions. He will ask the line to either "make safe"" or declare the line hot and clear to fire. The SO will be introduced before the plinking sessions begin and before the match begins to it is clear to whom to listen for these commands. Please bring some additional targets for the plinking sessions as we cannot afford to provide targets for the match and pre-match shooting. Dimensions of the target to be used can be found on page 3 of this Databook (the bull is 13"). Other targets can be found here and printed out as well. |
